AWA works with researchers and partners, including Lancaster University, to build evidence that improves policies and services for people with albinism in Cameroon.

AWA in research and the media

Why evidence matters

Good decisions about health, education and protection need good information. Research helps us understand the real experiences of people with albinism in Cameroon, measure what works and make the case to decision-makers for better policies and services.

Our research interests

  • Skin cancer prevention and access to sunscreen and skin care
  • Low vision and inclusive education
  • Stigma, safety and gender-based violence affecting people with albinism
  • Livelihoods and economic inclusion
  • Albinism in humanitarian and conflict-affected settings

Working with researchers

We welcome ethical research partnerships. Any research involving the people we serve must have informed consent, protect privacy and identities, and share findings back with the community. Researchers and students can contact us at contact@awaforcharity.org with “Research” in the subject line.
