In August 2025, the Association for the Welfare of Albinos (AWA) successfully implemented Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Safety Audits across Bamenda III, Momo Division, and Santa Subdivision in Cameroon’s Northwest Region.

The initiative was organized by the Child Protection Area of Responsibility (CP AoR) in partnership with UNICEF and UNFPA, and implemented by AWA volunteers who carried out field assessments, focus group discussions, and awareness sessions to promote community safety and inclusiveness.

Through the GBV Safety Audits, AWA identified protection risks affecting women, girls, and persons with disabilities, while engaging local authorities, community leaders, and service providers in strengthening safety and accountability mechanisms.

Key Activities Featured Online

– Community sensitization and safety assessments in Bamenda III.

– Volunteer-led GBV service mapping and outreach in Momo Division.

– Awareness and dialogue sessions with local stakeholders in Santa Subdivision.

AWA’s website and social media updates showcased the teamwork and dedication of volunteers, partners, and communities working together to ensure safer environments for all.

This activity was supported by UNICEF and UNFPA under the coordination of the Child Protection AoR  and credit and transportation for enumerators was provided by AWA.
