Brendaline, a courageous woman living with albinism in the Northwest Region of Cameroon, has endured years of stigma and discrimination. Myths and harmful cultural beliefs in her community isolated her from family and friends, and made it nearly impossible for her to find a life partner. Her only ‘fault’, being born with albinism.
But Brendaline refused to remain in the shadows.

Everything changed when Brendaline joined the Association for the Welfare of Albinos (AWA). Through AWA, she found not just support, but a voice.
She began sharing her story publicly, educating her community about the realities of albinism, and became a vocal advocate for change. From local community halls to national TV and radio platforms, Brendaline is now using her voice to fight the very myths that once silenced her.
Recently, Brendaline faced yet another life-altering challenge she developed a severe illness that led to the amputation of her leg. This could have crushed anyone’s spirit, but not Brendaline.
Despite her physical loss, her heart for advocacy remains stronger than ever. She continues to speak out, to inspire, and to lead.
